Paul E. Weaver
President
Paul E. Weaver is a graduate of University Military School (UMS) in Mobile, Alabama and the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, with a BS degree in Business.

Paul worked in all phases of his father's business while growing up, from laborer, truck driver, grade checker and equipment operator to estimator.

Upon his college graduation, Paul, along with his brother, Calvin, formed Hosea O. Weaver and Sons, Inc. in 1973. Paul has served as president and chairman of the board since the inception of Hosea O. Weaver and Sons, Inc. He oversees all aspects of the company.

Paul Weaver is past president of the Mobile County Road Builder's Association and past president of the Alabama Road Builder's Association. He is a member of the Mobile Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Advisors.

In May, 2001, Paul received the Joseph Treadwell Award from the Drug Education Council, Inc. (Southwest Alabama) for "his civic leadership and commitment to helping others through our community."

H. Ben Mathews
Senior Vice President
H. Ben Mathews was recruited by H.O. Weaver and Sons in 1983 after serving as a construction consultant to the U.S. Army (Middle East) following the Israeli-Egyptian Peace Treaty. Mathews has spent his career in the field of construction specializing in the science of asphalt and its application. His expertise is well-known throughout the industry earning Mathews numerous speaking invitations at professional conferences and trade association events.

Mathews was president of the Alabama Asphalt Pavement Association in 1989 and 2000. He has also served as director of the Georgia Asphalt Association and Florida Asphalt Association. Currently, Mathews leads the Asphalt Operations Division for H.O. Weaver and Sons, Inc.

John E. Murphy, III, P.E.
Vice President
A graduate of Auburn University, John E. Murphy, III holds a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering and is a Licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Alabama. Murphy began his professional career at the Alabama Highway Department where he was a member of the first graduating class of the Engineering Education and Training Program. In 1991, Murphy joined H.O. Weaver and Sons, Inc. to supervise construction projects and manage estimating activities. In 2000, Murphy was promoted to serve as vice president of the company's Construction Operations Division.

From 1998 to 2000, Murphy served as vice president of the Mobile County Road Builder's Association and is past president of the organization. His term ended in August 2002.

S. Mark Shelley, CPA
Secretary and Treasurer
After working in the private accounting sector, S. Mark Shelley joined the company in 1991. He received his bachelor's of science in accounting from Auburn University and is a certified public accountant (CPA). Mark assists Paul with the organization's financial matters and manages many of the administrative activities within H.O. Weaver and Sons.
